House owners and residents of 1004 Estate, Victoria Island, Lagos, under the auspices of ‘Concern Residents Of 1004’, on Saturday, sacked the executives of House Owners and Residents Association (HOMA), a committee saddled with the maintenance of the Facilities in the Estate.
The reasons adduced by the concern residents of the estate for the sacking of Mr. Tayo Soetan led-executives committee, was largely on the poor state of infrastructure in the estate.
Other members of the sacked committee includes Ochuko Akposibure, Vice Chairman, Chief Dele Ogedengbe, Mr. Ehiosu Oviawe, and Mr. Femi Romiluyi.
Another reason given by the residents at the Saturday’s meeting held at Cluster Club House of the estate for sacking the committee by the residents was that the tenure of the current HOMA’s executives had expired since January 30, 2017.
Other allegations leveled against the Soetan led-committee includes arbitrary increase in power tarrif without consultation; lack of transparency and accountability; bad water supply; and provision of unbefitting children’s playing ground in the estate.
The concerned residents also called the sack of a power supply company, IG4 Power Limited, an electricity firm in charge of power supply to the estate, which the residents said belongs to one Owumi Ikomi, who is a resident of the Estate, for what they called exorbitant charges.
At the meeting which was co-chaired by Mr. Soetan, which the concerned residents also called for dissolution of the Estate Board Of Trust (BOT) ,and on the members of the board to immediately vacate office.
Consequently, the residents of the Estate has inaugurated an eight-man caretaker committee, which will be in office for 60 days before the appointment of new maintenance management.
Prior to the appointment of HOMA and 1G4 Power Limited, the facility was being managed by 1004 Estate Limited.
But following a Lagos High court injunction delivered in January 2016 returning the management of the Estate to 1004 estates ltd , the disobedience by HORA of the order culminated in the Estate’s electricity supply being poorly managed by Mr . Owumi Ikomi’s company IG4 Power Limited. The vast Majority of the residents agreed that the estate was better managed under 1004 estate before this group began formenting needless trouble on the estate.
