As part of the event to celebrate excellence in architecture in Nigeria and in the diaspora and with quest for qualitative and sustainable design for Nigerians.
The Nigerian Institute of Architects set for its annual west African Architecture Festival. (WAAF 2.0) which is to be held in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to the President of Nigerian Institute of Architects, Arc. Tonye Oliver Braide. “This year WEST AFRICA ARCHITECTURE FESTIVAL with the theme “CELEBRATING DIASPORA EXCELLENCE: THE LEAP INTO THE NEW CIVILIZATION: is aimed to bring all architect in Nigeria and in the diaspora together to celebrate excellence in architecture. The Epic Annual Festival which is in its 2nd edition will be held in the Obi Wali International Conference Center, Port-Harcourt, River State between 24th – 27th October, 2017.
Unveiling the programme for this year WAAF 2017, in his press statement, The PRESIDENT OF NIGERIAN INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS, said what West Africa Architecture is trying to achieve is to further create a point of convergence among architects in Nigeria, those in the diaspora especially in the West African region, and Nigeria especially River State, Port-Harcourt as a suitable point of investment that will further grow the city of Port-Harcourt as technology is a gift of God which is the mother of civilization of arts and of science he said 200,000 to 250,000 visitors, 100 exhibitors and 34 participating countries will gather in Port-Harcourt to celebrate architecture in West African and Africa at large.
Also speaking at the conference, The chairman Nigerian Institute of Architects, River State chapter Arc Andrew A.Egbuonu express that West African Architecture Festival (WAAF) is an event by the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) for Architects, allied professionals and general public’s which target is to educate and create life style improvement and network with the architects bringing them together especially the big names in architecture domain from West African and beyond, he said the West African Architecture Festival will be adding to its 2017 edition range of activities such as food fiesta, fashion fair, exhibition, music, seminar from West African region.
