Nigeria legends Austin Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu are among the former football stars invited by the world soccer ruling body, the Federation International Football Associations (FIFA) as special guests for Friday’s draw for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, reports Completesportsnigeria. com.
Okocha and Kanu will join legends of the game like Samuel Eto’o, Marcelo Desaily, Ronaldo Nazario Luis de Lima, Ronaldinho Gaucho, Lothar Matthaus, Peter Schmeichel, Didier Drogba among others for the draw ceremony.
Okocha, one of the most gifted midfielders to have come out of Africa, represented Nigeria at three FIFA World Cups. He captained the Super Eagles at the 2002 edition co-hosted by Japan and South Korea.
Kanu, a two- time African Footballer of the Year winner, also featured at three World Cups for Nigeria.
The football stars according to a report on the Russia Football Federation website will lead the ceremony of the draw with former England striker Gary Lineker and Russian journalist Maria Komandnaya who will host the event.
Miroslav Klose, the all-time leading scorer in the history of the FIFA World Cup, will take the FIFA World Cup to the stage.
The draw will take place at the Moscow Kremlin Palace at 6pm local time (4pm).
