The Managing Director, UACN Property Development Company, Mr. Hakeem Bamidele Ogunniran has been named the 2016 Lagos State Man of the Year.

Mr. Ogunniran beat nine other nominees to win the award organized by Centre for Policy Development and Political Studies after emerging with the highest number of votes. Previously, he was also crowned 3Invest Man of the Year, Real Estate Unite Developer of the year and Real Estate Person of the year.

He is a Lawyer, Chartered Secretary and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators holds LL.B, LL.M, and MBA degrees of the University of Lagos. Ogunniran was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985 and was formerly a Law Lecturer at the University of Lagos. He joined UAC of Nigeria Plc. as Manager, Legal Services in 1995 and was later appointed as Western Area Manager and Marketing Manager respectively of GBO/MDS Division of UACN.

He was the Divisional Managing Director of MDS Logistics Division of UACN and a Past President and Chairman of Council of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria. A former Fulbright Scholar at Yale School, he has attended various Senior Management and Leadership programmes at Ashridge Management College, UK, Cranfield University, Harvard Business School and London Business School. He was appointed the Managing Director of the Company in January, 2010 and is currently Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director, Director, Member of Risk & Governance Committee and Member of Finance & Projects Committee.

Mr. Ogunniran is also a past President and Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Arbitrators of Nigeria and frequent speaker at international conferences including the Annual African Property Investment Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa. He was the Lead Speaker for Africa at the 1st International Conference on Corporate Governance at Shanghai in May, 2010.

Ogunniran leads a UPDC that is regarded as a leading light in property development in Nigeria and he has supervised the construction of the iconic and towering Victoria Mall on Bishop Aboyade Cole Street, Victoria Island; Grandville Estate on Ladoke Akintola Street, Ikeja GRA; Metro Garden in Lekki Phase One; Green Cameron Estate in Ikoyi; Emerald Court in Abuja, among others. He is the recipient of many indigenous and international awards including the Kwame Nkrumah Award for Corporate Governance Excellence.

He is widely regarded as a visionary, entrepreneurial and highly qualified senior executive with broad knowledge and experience in strategy formulation and implementation, customer development /management, logistics and supply chain management, negotiation and contract administration, project management, wholesale distribution, marketing, merchandising, change management, managing strategic alliances and general corporate administration.

Ogunniran is married with children and his hobbies include table tennis and supporting Arsenal FC .
